Form+Function
Pixel Plain adheres to the Bauhausian mottos: “form follows function” and “art and technology - a new unity.” In other words: a practical, no-nonsense approach to design. This is not as easy as it sounds. Simple is difficult to accomplish. A design that serves its purpose with no distractions is BEAUTIFUL.
On Design
Design is more than style, layout, or structure. Design is the the creative integration of these parts to solve the problem at hand. Pixel Plain lives to solve design problems.
On Development
Planning Ahead
Planning is perhaps the single, most important step in the development process. Planning well means knowing how much to spend, how little to cut and what to save for later. Pixel Plain believes in proper planning and good processes, but without the extra fat.
Rapid Prototyping
Years of experience and a multitude of varying projects and clients have streamlined processes. Pixel Plain operates in a lean, well-oiled environment to produce results quickly. Getting it right the first time means a better product in the end.
Content Structure and Presentation: Separate AND Equal
Structuring content is vital to its effective communication. Pixel Plain structures all content using semantically correct XHTML - the latest W3C standard for hypertext documents. CSS, the W3C standard for document presentation, is then used to style the structured content. What does this mean? It means that content mark-up is not marred by presentation code, which can lead to problems regarding bloat, accessibility and manageability. Living separately and coexisting peacefully makes sites easier and less costly to maintain.
